Over a hundred people are involved in the making of the Ennis Street Arts Festival, and every one of these people are volunteers. Volunteer activities range from large commitments – such as being a member of the committee, planning, marketing and promotion, sponsorship, coordinating festival events, and developing different artistic ideas – to smaller commitments, such as helping to setup the different artistic projects.

The Festival Committee consists of dedicated volunteers who help to plan and organize the Ennis Street Festival.

The main Festival committee members are

ANA BELLA ALVAREZ

ANA BELLA ALVAREZ

Festival Director

Ennis Street Festival is the brainchild of visual artist Ana Bella Alvarez. Since its inception and launch in 2006, Ana Bella has driven her vision to bring a vibrant arts programme to the streets of Ennis.

Ana Bella Alvarez, who has grown the festival through her passion and drive for the past seven years, will continue as Director of the Ennis Street Festival Committee. She is supported in this role by a group of dedicated individuals with diverse, but highly relevant, backgrounds. She has also played a strong role in mentoring youth groups in the county on artistic projects and has worked hard to raise the profile and understanding of the arts in its broadest sense, through the establishment of the Ennis Street Festival.

ANA COLOMER

ANA COLOMER

Arts Director & Graphic Designer

Ana Colomer, who holds a Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts, a H.Dip. and a Masters in Multimedia, runs arts and crafts classes for children and adults in her own studio. Among the activities she does are painting, clay modelling, animation, observational/manga drawing, puppetry, different seasonal crafts and graphic design classes. Ana Colomer is also a founding member of Tic Toc Puppets, a puppet company specialising in large puppets and community workshops. Tic Toc Puppets have worked with different local schools, other local youth organisations, and local community groups. Tic Toc Puppets performs and runs workshops in Glór every year during the festival.

During the last 8 years, Ana Colomer has been working hard to produce different projects as well as doing administrative work, and graphic and web design for the festival. She is the Ennis Street Festival’s Artistic Director and therefore coordinates all artistic activities and organises exhibitions and visual art activities.

TIARNAN Ó RUAIRC

TIARNAN Ó RUAIRC

Artistic Coordinator

Tiarnan Ó Ruairc is also a co-founder of Tic Toc Puppets. He works with Ana Colomer and together they always have brilliant artistic ideas at the Ennis Street Festival. Tiarnan has a background in building, so he is responsible for the structural engineering aspect of the big puppets and installations, making sure things are safe and stable before they are built and used. He also has a Diploma in Irish and his last venture consisted of workshops for adults and after-school classes for children, both as gaeilge. This was to try to stimulate the use of Irish in everyday activities.

Tiarnan is involved in an innovative Recycle Build project and is interested in the optimum use of recycled materials.
Tiarnan has worked on many projects for the Ennis Street Festival in the last seven years and he is the Artistic Coordinator of the Festival.
